BBC Members, Members of other British Car Clubs, and Friends:
First, I want to personally thank all the British Car Clubs and British Car
Friends that showed up and supported the new "Crossroads" program and
open house at the Blount County Children's Home.
The British Car turnout was great. We
had support from Chattanooga,
Crossville, Knoxville, Maryville and
Morristown. |
For an event that had a
short organize and set up time it was
great for a first time event. The
British Car end of the event raised a
total of $529.00 through registration
fees, voting and donations ($114.00
was from voting for your favorite British Car). When I get the total amount
raised for the event I will let you know. |

 |
| We had a total of 17 British Cars and what a great assortment! MGB's and MGB/GT's with
chrome and rubber bumper models being
represented, including the excellent MGB/GT V8
of Dan and Christa Masters, which did not have
any bumpers at all, just nerf bars. There was a
Triumph Spitfire, Triumph TR-8 and a MGA. As
far as I know this was the first showing for the
1958 MGA of Paul and Tricia Batovsky
(Chattanooga) since he finished refurbishing and
detailing. The Mini turnout included several original Mini's,
a Honda V-Tec powered 1960 original Mini and
|
one John Cooper Works BMW Mini. Then I
guess you could say one of the highlights of the
show was when Brian Starnes drove up in his
2000 Aston Martin DB-7. We just do not see
many of these at the British Car shows and then
to have one show up at an impromptu Gathering
with short notice, what a nice touch, it ranks
right up there with the British Car Clubs
that made the three hour drive from
the Chattanooga area and three hour drive from
the Crossville area to support the Blount County
Children's Home Crossroads program and open
house. |

 |
| Voting was by popular vote. The only addition to this was that one
popular vote had to be supported by one popular dollar and one could vote as
many times with as many dollars as they wanted to for their favorite British
Car. Being that this is the first event, there will only be one trophy for the
event and to keep it really simple, we only had one class. So just to let
everyone know how the voting went, the top 3 places are as listed: |
3rd Place - Paul and Tricia Batovsky, 1958 MGA. Representing the
Southern British Car Club of Greater Chattanooga and Blount British
Cars, LTD of Blount County.
2nd Place - Bob and Jean Thomas, 1977 MGB. Representing the
Plateau British Car Club of the Crossville area
1st Place - Charles and Perky Long, V-tec powered 1960
Mini. Representing the Southern British Car Club of Greater
Chattanooga. |

 |
| Again, being a representative of the Blount County
Children's Home Board of Directors and the Blount
British Car Club, Ltd, I want to thank everyone
that supported the Blount County Children's Home
Crossroads program and open house event. I hope
we can do this event next year and provide
everyone with a benchmark to show how the
Crossroad's program is working in our community.
Thank you,
Jim Watson
