The BBC began in 1984 as a group of British Motorcar enthusiasts who gathered to share experiences in repairing, restoring and driving their cars. The club was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1988.

Membership in Blount British Cars, Ltd. is open to anyone who has an interest in British Motorcars, even if they do not own one. Current membership totals around 100. Some members drive their cars daily and others only "when the sun shines." The club has planned car drives and other activities throughout the year and participates in joint activities with other area clubs.

Blount British Cars, Ltd. has become a leader in the East Tennessee area by hosting a British Car Gathering each spring. The first year, we "Gathered" at Maryville College for British Day with 16 cars. Since then we have grown to more than 150 British Cars at some shows. The British Car Gathering is now held on the grounds of the Talley Ho Inn in Townsend, Tennessee. The Gathering is open to all British cars and motorcycles.

Each year, the Gathering draws cars from all states surrounding and including Tennessee and as far north as Michigan, as far south as Florida and many other places in between. Motorcars have ranged from a 1932 Morris sedan and a 1935 MG Airline Coupe to 1950s, 1960s and newer models of MG, Triumph, Austin-Healey, Jaguar, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce, Minis and Sunbeams. We have also had De Loreans and an Amphicar. We even had an Austin-Healey Boat at one show. Owners range from teenagers to older enthusiasts.

Since 1987, the net proceeds from the Gathering have been donated to the Blount County Children's Home. Each year, as the Gathering has grown, so have our donations. These funds come from registrations, food sales, corporate sponsors, and donations from event participants and Blount British Car Club members. We also recently held our first “Annual” timed rally with the net proceeds donated to this worthwhile local charitable organization.
